Following last year’s successful programme of webinars, I am delighted to say that the Major Projects Association has teamed up again with Rupert Taylor of Kivue to provide a series of imaginative web sessions via the Major Projects Knowledge Hub. This year we’re following the natural cycle of the year and will explore aspects of planning for your portfolio and the projects within it.

#1: Portfolio Mobilization for 2020
12.30-13.30 GMT Thursday 20th February

The start of the calendar year often coincides with the planning cycle in many organizations and consequently, is a time when new projects or programmes are added to the portfolio. During this first session, Rupert Taylor will discuss this process and provide you with a portfolio realization planning tool that you can use to score your emerging organizational portfolio.

#2: The Portfolio Emerges
Date to be announced

It’s often only once you’ve built your portfolio that reality crashes the party, as you start the real work of translating your planning into delivery. How can you manage the transition from planning to action most effectively?

#3: Business and Operational Readiness
Date to be announced

How many of your projects have come unstuck approaching handover simply because the business is not geared up to take them on and integrate them into ‘business as usual’ activities. What kind of techniques can you adopt to help build operational readiness at the same time as you build the project output?

#4: Delivering the MVP
Date to be announced

The end of the year can be a time of frenetic activity in organizations. Last minute attempts to reach a challenging sales target; to realise a business objective that was much heralded at the start of the year and, in project terms, to deliver a working ‘minimum viable product’ before Christmas! How can you improve your approach to MVP planning and delivery so that you are not slaves to this kind of artificial deadline or, if you are faced with a challenging deadline, how can you manage it effectively?
