A Guide to Responsible Project Management

Summary

In July 2018 a workshop hosted by Bournemouth University brought together sustainability practitioners, professional project managers, researchers and students in different disciplines and from several universities here in the UK and the Netherlands to begin discussing what being responsible in project management might mean.

This Guide is the first output from that network and is presented in three sections that set out the context for RPM, suggest eight principles and offers practical guidance for managing projects more responsibly. One focus of the workshop was the competencies that Responsible Project Managers will need and how these might be nurtured.
